Our Program has met and exceeded the Colorado DOR requirements to become a Colorado approved online driver education course provider. Our program can help you meet the Graduate Driver License (GDL) requirement in Colorado as well.
In simpler terms, our online driver education program is equivalent to taking a driver education course with a traditional “brick and mortar” driving school. You may take our online driver education course at anytime from anywhere you have Internet access.
You also have access to an online instructor to answer any of your driver education questions. He is available through email and live chat
Aspen High School Driver's Education Program

The AHS Driver's Education Program is licensed by the State of Colorado to offer a Comprehensive Classroom Course, Behind the Wheel Instruction, and the State Driver License Drive Exam. Please see below for additional information and to register for one of these programs.
We prefer to have all fees paid in advance by Credit or Debit card. Please see below to register and pay your fees.
Cancellation/No Show Policy
When our instructors schedule a driving session or test with you, they must be available for you at that time and can not accomodate any other students or activities. If you do not show up for your scheduled appointment or arrive too late to complete the session or test, you will be charged full price for that missed appointment. This fee will be due before any additional services are rendered.
In order to avoid this fee, you must cancel with your instructor more than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment.
Comprehensive Classroom Course: $225
NOW REGISTERING FOR THE 2015-2016 SCHOOL YEAR
The Comprehensive Driver's Education Classroom Course is being offered once per quarter during the 2015-16 school year and is designed specifically for AHS students, although anyone is welcome to take this class for the regular fee. The class meets on Sundays from 3-8:30pm in Aspen High School Room 1122 on the dates listed below.
To register for the six 30 hour classroom session, students must be 15 years old on or before the last class period for that session. For example, if the class ends on 5/18 the student MUST be 15 years old on or before 5/18. This allows for the required paperwork and documentation for the Learner's Permit exam. Also, students must be present for all classes during their session. If a class is missed, that student will need to make up the missed class during the following session and will not be able to test for the learner's permit until the class is made up.
Quarter 1: 8/23, 8/30, 9/13, 9/27, 10/4, 10/11
Quarter 2: 10/18, 11/1, 11/8, 11/15, 12/6, 12/13
Quarter 3: 1/10, 1/31, 2/21, 2/28, 3/6, 3/13
Quarter 4: 4/10, 4/17, 4/24, 5/1, 5/8, 5/15

Session 1: Managing Risk When Driving, Using Your Eyes Effectively, Novice Driver Responsibilities and the Licensing System, Getting Acquainted With the Vehicle You Will Drive
Session 2: Understanding Vehicle Space Needs, Natural Laws and Balance, Starting-Steering and Stopping the Vehicle, Managing Space and Time for Safe Driving, Unlocking the Mysteries of Anti-lock Brakes, Traffic Control Devices, Traffic Laws, Signs-Signals and Markers
Session 3: Managing Risk: Vision and Perception, Vision and Space Management, Basic Maneuvers in a Low Risk Environment, Dangerous Crossings; A Second Thought, Getting Past the Orange Barrels
Session 4: Sharing the Road With Others, Risk Reducing Strategies for Different Driving Environments, Breaking the Chain of Events, Sharing the Road With Others, Freeway Driving, The Effects of Alcohol and Other Drugs on Driving, Impaired Driving, Think About it: Peer Pressure and Underage Drinking
Session 5: The Effects of Distractions-Drowsiness and Emotions on Driving, The Last Text Documentary, Road Rage and Aggressive Driving: A View From the Driver's Seat, Adverse Driving Conditions and Emergencies, Driving in Bad Weather, Winter Driving

Written Learner's Permit Test: $20
We are licensed to administer the State of Colorado DMV Written Learner's Permit Test. This test is 25 multiple choice questions and is based on the Colorado DMV Handbook, available HERE. Upon successful completion, we will provide you with the necessary paperwork to take to the DMV to get your Colorado Learner's Permit.
All tests will be administered in the Driver's Ed Office, #1117, located in Aspen High School unless prior arrangements are made with your instructor.
Behind the Wheel Instruction: $320
Our Behind the Wheel Instruction provides 6 hours of drive time with a State Certified Instructor in the AHS Driver's Education car. All BTW sessions begin and end in the Aspen High School parking lot unless prior arrangements are made with your instructor.
Topics that will be covered include:
Knowing your vehicle, adjusting the seat and mirrors, proper signaling, vision patterns, road markings, signage, rural and city driving, and more.
Completion of our Behind the Wheel Instruction combined with your additional practice will prepare you to pass the Colorado DMV Driver License Exam (See below for more information on this).
PLEASE NOTE: All Behind the Wheel drive sessions are subject to appropriate weather and road conditions. Your instructor will contact you if conditions are unsafe.
*Additional BTW hours can be arranged at an additional charge of $60/hr. Please discuss this with your driving instructor if you are interested.
Drive Exam: $60
We are licensed to administer the State of Colorado DMV Drive Exam., Drive Exams last approximately 30-45 minutes and are scheduled directly with your assigned instructor. Upon successful completion, we will provide you with the necessary paperwork to take to the DMV to get your Colorado Driver License.
All tests begin and end in the Aspen High School parking lot.
